Cash for Students

So, some schools are going to pay kids with cash to try to get them to start coming to school? I think this is one of the stupidest things I have ever heard. Most schools don’t have the money to keep the music department open and have to cut corners every where yet they are paying kids to go to school?! What bullshit! In the first place, it’s not the schools job to make sure the kids go to school, it’s the parents. The parents need to get off their lazy asses and make damn sure their child is going to school. Start being parents and take care of your children. And how bout instead of trying to bribe the kids into going to school, why don’t you punish the parents for not making the kids go? Don’t give me that bullshit that because of this reason or that reason parents can’t make their kids go. When my mom and dad worked 12 to 14 hours a day each, they still found a way to make sure I went to school, did my chores and homework. And when my mom became a single parent when I was in high school, once again she found ways to make sure I did the things I was suppose too. So the parents may have to give up doing things that they once did and it may be hard but that’s what you do when your a parent. Your children’s well being comes before anything else.

Ahhh…it’s times like these that I wish I wasn’t homeschooled. Cash just to go to school? Now THAT’S what I call a dream job!

That is the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard. I know that school districts are desperate to educate children, but stooping to bribery is pathetic?
In a lot of these cases, I’m sure if the parents cracked down a little more on their children, there wouldn’t be such a problem in the first place.
    Ugh…

    interesting!
about 15 years ago I moved from a small rural high school to a huge inner city high school, and guess what? The huge public school system put money into a scholarship fund for each A,B or even C each high school student got. THEN, the school system matched the scholarship if the student actually went to college!!!!! I took advantage of that situation quickly and finished college.

Which school systems are considering paying students in 2006? I’d be interested to know.

In the school system my son goes to….he can only be absent or tardy so many days, after that the sheriff comes the house and the parents do have to go to court, and often have to pay fines. Back in ohio mother’s have been jailed for their kids not going to school. in many states a drivers license is held until a kid is 18 if they choose to drop out.
things were bad in education years ago, i can’t even imagine being a student these days. it’s amazing what things are coming to.

AMEN! that is so crazy; i cannot believe that schools have been reduced to that. i think thats one of the biggest new problems in america; parents want to put responsibility on everyone but themselves. why cant THEY make sure their kids go to school? why can’t THEY punish them for not going? UGHGHGHGH! that stuff just makes me nuts, lol.

That is against the law when political lobbyists do it. Funny how the schools can get away with it.
