A 3 year old boy was killed by a falling mirror in a Walmart store. I feel for this mother, I really do. No parent should have to out live their child but I have 2 questions.
1. What was a mirror doing in the children’s section at Walmart? If it was the children clothing section then it should of been in the dressing room. If it was in the Toy department then it shouldn’t of been there to begin with.
2. What the hell was the mother doing 5 feet away from her 3 year old? When Raven was 3 years old and we were at Walmart she was always put in the cart. We didn’t leave her running around the store for her safety. Even to this day at the age of 9 she stays right beside me when we are shopping?

July 24, 2006 at 12:15 amI know what you mean Amanda. I can’t condemn the mother though. Some people can let there 3 year old walk alongside them. This one just went bad. It sucks. Just to add more depression to the mix, a friend/co-worker of mine had a miscarriage on the restroom floor AT WORK today. She was only 3 months along. A bad day all around.

July 24, 2006 at 9:48 amYour implied condemnation of Walmart and the 3 year olds mother, based on so little fact, is rather knee-jerk, don’t you think? Why not something a little less “kick ass” like a prayer for her that she will find strength and compassion in the midst of what I am sure is a time of great sorrow and guilt laid on herself for all that she might have done to prevent this accident. Sure would be cool if we all had 20/20 fore-sight…

July 24, 2006 at 10:00 amJeff I did not condemn Walmart or the Mother. All I said was that I had a couple of questions and I addressed them. I worked at a Walmart Super center for 2 years and they where always strict about there safety regulations. I’m sure I’m not the only one who wondered what the hell the 3 year old was dong 5 feet away from the mother. That is no where near me condemning anyone.

July 25, 2006 at 9:46 pmI also work at Wal Mart and from what I gather, the child was climbing on a mirror in the fitting room. Not that this changes anything, but does make more sense than a mirror just being in the children’s section of the store.
