Washington Times: Chavez leads gloating over vote
Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez yesterday led a global chorus of Bush administration critics gloating over the outcome of Tuesday’s midterm elections, but some foreign leaders expressed concern over what the Democratic victory will mean on issues such as global trade and the Middle East.
Latin American populists, European leftists and Islamic fundamentalists were all quick to point to the U.S. vote as a repudiation of Mr. Bush’s aggressive, go-it-alone approach on Iraq and the global war on terror.
Americans need to seriously think about why our enemies would cheer about American election results.
The resignation of Defense Secretary Donald H. Rumsfeld also sparked praise from leaders of countries from the heart of what Mr. Rumsfeld once memorably dismissed as “Old Europe.â€
The Democratic sweep ranks as “the beginning of the end of a six-year nightmare for the world,†200 members of the Socialist bloc in the European Parliament declared in a joint statement yesterday.
Said Italian Foreign Minister Massimo D’Alema, “A cycle has ended. The cycle of pre-emptive wars, of unilateralism, ends in great failure.â€
With Mr. Bush still in charge of U.S. foreign policy for another two years, the pugnacious Mr. Chavez was one of the few world leaders to comment publicly on the elections.
“It’s a reprisal vote against the war in Iraq, against the corruption†inside the Bush administration, he told reporters in Caracas. “All this fills us with optimism.â€
Informed of Mr. Rumsfeld’s resignation as he was speaking, Mr. Chavez said, “Heads have started to roll. The president should resign on moral grounds, and Rumsfeld should go to jail.â€
Iran’s state-controlled television said in a commentary that U.S. voters were rejecting “Bush’s wrong strategy in the Middle East,†as well as “financial corruption in the United States.â€
When the dems took control after the elections our enemies cheered and celebrated. Doesn’t that make Americans think that the direction our country will be going isn’t the right direction? When our enemies are happy with the results of the election that should send a big bright light bulb above peoples head’s that we are in some serious trouble!

Our enemies know Bush will be preoccupied with subpoenas and impeachment hearings, too busy to actually defend his country or fight the war on terror.

Just like with the gop’s obsession with Cliton’s penis? I think not? First we need to extridite our brave men and women from an untenable situation. First things first. Get your priorities straight. People are dying.

I appreciate your comment no matter how stupid it is. Have a great day!

I don’t know about the rest of you guys, but I don’t base my life, or my desicions on what terrorists desire.
Thank you for the non-compliment, and the non-welcome to your site.

I’m sorry Amanda. Mudhog is a troll that I’ve banned from my site until she says something relevant. I didn’t think she’d follow me here. If it makes you feel better, you have just joined a large family of blogs that the mudslinger has frequented with her spew.

Believe me, I didn’t follow you here; don’t flatter yourself. What? Did you think yours was the only site I ever visited?

Off topic: Love the design of this site and the artwork!

Great slide show! Those bloody handprints are really scary!
And the way your dog and cat get along, well, it gives me hope for the middle east.

“Believe me, I didn’t follow you here; don’t flatter yourself.”
Sure you didn’t.
“Did you think yours was the only site I ever visited?”
You’ve never been here before. Tell Amanda about your buddy who had cancer and had to flee to Canada to be treated. She likes good fairy tales like that.

Tim – I got to this site from a link on “Liberal Lies…” a really good republican oriented site, with a very fair host, Ken Taylor. I highly recommend the site. I’m sure you’ve heard of it.
It’s not just my buddy who immigrated to Canada to get treatment for cancer. It’s happening a lot. The Canada immigration board is innundated.
Believe me Tim, I would never follow you anywhere. And it’s not all about you, anyway.
TimNovember 18, 2006 at 2:54 pm
Then why don’t you try proving your little stupid assertion about your “buddy” migrating to Canada to recieve treatment? Seeing as how both Canadian and American law disagree with you and all….
mudkittyNovember 25, 2006 at 10:15 am
Yeah, well buddy, back up your nonsense assertions about Canadian and United States law.
(Hint, American law? America is a continent, not a nation.)
