It’s been quite a while since my last post on here. The reason is, well it was because of personal / family issues that where going on for the past 3 months that kept me from feeling the need or the want to write anything. I am not going to go into details because well it’s personal and I just don’t want to. But I am happy to say things are looking as if they are returning to normal and I have the want to blog again *yaha*
Christmas went well, Raven got lots of toys and she has been feeling her free time playing with them all.
And I am so very happy to say that my sister in law got engaged at the end of December to her long time boyfriend Eric. I am so terribly happy cause Eric is the coolest person I know and now we will be like totally related! Also Eric’s band DecembeRadio has been nominated for a Grammy!
DecembeRadio’s Debut Earns GRAMMY Nomination
Slanted Records’ Rock Band Gains Recognition for 49th Annual GRAMMY Awards
BRENTWOOD, Tenn.—December 8th, 2006—Slanted Records recording artists DecembeRadio have earned their first GRAMMY nomination as the announcements for the 49th Annual GRAMMY Awards were released yesterday. The Christian rock band is nominated in Category 53—Best Rock or Rap Gospel Album for their debut, self-titled release, produced by Scotty Wilbanks, which hit shelves last summer.
Named one of the ten acts to watch for 2006 by BILLBOARD Magazine and voted Breakout Band of the Year at the Rock Summit radio event, DecembeRadio, of Blacksburg, Vir., has been gaining momentum among fans and earning respect among industry representatives for the past year, evidenced by this first big nod of approval from The National Academy of Recording Arts & Sciences, Inc. (NARAS).
“One of the highlights of being a distributor is getting to experience an artist early on, realizing just what terrific potential lies ahead,†stated Mark Funderburg, president of Word Distribution. “From the first time I heard DecembeRadio, I knew they had talent, charisma and that certain ’something special.’ It is a thrill to be a part of this band’s career…and to see others enjoying the same great music that moved us from day one.â€
“We couldn’t have done this without the support of our label and our team,†stated band member Eric Miker. “This is one of the pinnacles of what we hoped to achieve during our career, and we didn’t expect to reach this on the first album. We are blown away, humbled and honored.â€
The band’s current single “Drifter†climbed to #3 this week on the CHR radio charts (R&R) while climbing to #22 at AC radio. Their current rock single, “Dangerous,†jumped to #20 on the CRW chart and to #23 on R&R’s listing.
DecembeRadio (Josh Reedy, Brian Bunn, Eric Miker and Boone Daughdrill) recently performed at NASCAR’s Bass Pro Shops 500 Race at the Atlanta Motor Speedway, performing the national anthem LIVE on NBC and playing a set of their own rock tunes for the crowd at the speedway. The band received standing ovations over the summer when they opened for Kid Rock at the Anderson District Managers Conference, and more ovations followed when they wowed soon-to-be new fans at the Warner/Elektra/Atlantic Corporation’s (WEA’s) national meeting in Phoenix, Ariz.
The band was selected by iTunes for its Discovery Download program; and soon after the debut recording’s release, it was one of the TOP 10 most downloaded Christian CDs on the site for several consecutive weeks. Their current hit “Drifter†appeared in the Top 50 most downloaded Christian songs on the website; and the full album, DecembeRadio, landed in the Top 50 Christian album sales chart in BILLBOARD Magazine.
DecembeRadio is distributed by Word Entertainment/WEA with digital distribution by EMI CMG Distribution. The group is managed by Thomas Vasquez Entertainment. For further information, visit www.decemberadio.com or www.slantedrecords.com.
