A Little Secret

Here’s something that I do not tell hardly anyone. I actually like Avril Lavigne’s song Girlfriend. Can you believe it? I know I was shocked when I found myself singing it the other day. I hate Avril Lavigne and would love to drop a meteor on her head. She wouldn’t know true punk rock if it bit her on the ass yet I find her song Girlfriend infectious. The words were not written by some musical genius, “She’s Like So Whatever” my 10 year old could write better lyrics yet the beat is pretty damn catchy.

I have liked all of her music up until the new CD. I like a lot of the songs on it, but it seems like she’s really regressing. I feel like this CD should have been her first with how immature a lot of the songs/lyrics are.

    Catchy for sure though.

I don’t listen to her, but I do know that what people think is punk now is more pop than anything else. What they think is punk seems to be a trendy thing to do, and isn’t that the opposite of punk? 🙂

Aside from the fact that, if given the chance, Odin help me, I’d tie Avril to a lemming and point her at a cliff, I think the thing about her not knowing punk, while true, is also true of just about everyone else right now. Whiney guitar pop is now the standard for music with “Punk Sensibility” and people say Pop/Punk as if it’s one and the same, but Punk – real Punk, died some 27-ish years ago and just the use of the word annoys me now, lol.

BTW, Do you realize how many of the same films are on your netflix queue that have been on mine? One Missed Call is AMAZING, but I’d really suggest trying The Heirloom ( The trailer’s retarded, but the film’s fabulous ), The Eye series ( Don’t let negative rants about The Eye 10 fool you, it’s a bit silly sometimes but the Pang’s still deliver ) and Phone, which is 100x better than One Missed Call. I was afraid it’d be a shitty remake, but it’s not, it’s fa-bu-lous, lol.

    Re: Your Comment @ Shibuya

Yeah, I think the Pangs get flack they don’t deserve, but The Eye 2 is the first one you should rent since they don’t have The Eye ( Naina is the Indian version, it’s really a close remake, try that ), but The Eye 2 is in my DVD collection and it’s just really touching and scary. I was surprised how touching it was, since that’s not the kind of film I’m usually into, but it was nice and the exposition about the nature of the spirits is cool, too.

How was the Anthology? A lot of the collections I’ve seen are really under-budgeted, but they always come out frightening and surreal.

Oh no, not that song! I detest Avril Lavigne with a passion!
