One Giant Step for Me

I am going to do something that I will probably regret later on. I am going to post pictures of myself in my bathing suit! Even though I still need to lose 30 pounds, I feel a hell of a lot better about my body now at 159 pounds than I did when I was 220 pounds (but since I am a short 5’ 3”, more weight always looks worse on me than someone who is taller). I still do not like showing my body off but it is not something that I will put my foot down and not budge on the subject when the circumstances require me to show some skin (such as swimming).

So here they are. I completely love the bathing suit. I bought both the top (which is a size medium) and the bottoms (size 10) at Kohl’s about a month ago. I have not worn a bathing suit without covering myself up with a baggy t-shirt (yes, I even would swim in the baggy t-shirt) since the 5th grade so this is a huge step for me. I even walked around (and rode the rides) at Sandcastle last weekend wearing that bathing suit without covering up and I did it without feel too self-conscious! The pictures where taken Sunday August 1, 2010 while I was getting ready for Sandcastle so I am not wearing make-up and my hair is a mess.

Manda, I think you have a skewed self image because you look fucking awesome! I adore the top. 🙂 Even your hair looks cute. I’d totally cat-call you.

Cute bathing suit! I’m jealous.. ugh now yet another person that weighs less than me 😛 Oh well, can’t complain when I haven’t gotten off my butt to fix the issue right? I think you’re lookin’ great. Don’t be too hard on yourself, you’re carrying the weight well, I wouldn’t have guessed you weighed 159! So keep it up, you’re doin good 🙂

Oh my goodness girl you have a great body! I’m jealous, you seriously look great. I don’t want to sound weird, but your curves are like perfect. I hope when I lose more weight my curves look better, haha. Also, I adore that bathing suit, that is super cute.

Dude, seriously what do you think is wrong with your body?? You look amazing and I would gladly change places with you, lol. I love your bathing suit. I really am seeing a lot of people with the whole swim skirts on bottom which I think I might try one day but the idea of swimming in a skirt just seems uncomfortable to me. I had one a while back but I cut the skirt part off, lol. Anyways, take care hun!

There are not enough alcohol and drugs in the world to get me to post a picture of myself in a bathing suit at my current weight, a fact for which I’m sure all my readers are thankful.

Good for you for dropping the pounds and for having the courage to show off your new bod. Totally awesome!

P.S. I got drawn into your blog by its name. “Off with her head!” Oh, how I wish I had the power to say that once in a while.

Being 5’1″ I know what you mean about shortness. Being short is so unforgiving. But you’ve really come an amazingly long way from 220!! I applaud you! You look fantastic and that bathing suits pattern is really adorable. I don’t think you’ll regret this as much as you might think. Being able to look back, be reminded of how far you’ve come is great to have. Especially on days where you just can’t find that motivation or you feel like beating yourself up. You can look back and remember you’re strong, you’ve got true willpower, you can do anything! 😀

You’re beautiful. I’m glad you have worked up the courage to show off what you’ve got, because trust me, it is worth showing!

P.S. You’re at my goal weight, so that should make you feel good. 🙂

You look amazing! That suit really suits you. [haha]. I adore the print and cut. I may have to go shopping at Kohls myself for a new bathing suit. =]
