My weight has still been fluctuating by about 10 pounds. I will lose the 10 pounds just to gain it back in like a week and then lose it again. It’s starting to get really annoying! Of course, my exercise routine has been nonexistent. For the past month, I just cannot get back into the groove of exercising. I just feel extremely drained and stressed lately. Actually, I have always felt tired and worn out for as long as I can remember. I have iron deficiency anemia. Was born with it (even had to take liquid iron when I was younger and on prescription iron pills until I reached high school and refused to take them because they where staining my teeth yellow). According to my doctor, I am just a few steps above needing a blood transfusion. He informed me last year that if my iron drops any lower, he wants me in the hospital to monitor me. They (actually the head nurse who is amazing) figured out that my body was not holding on to the iron and after extensive blood work discovered that my iron reserve was empty. I have been taking over the counter iron pills for the past week and half and I feel a little better but still tired. Since my body cannot hold the iron, I will only see the effect for a short period during the day. I see many young adults in their rocawear jeans walking around the mall and they seem so full of energy. I just wish I had an ounce of that energy. I would love the wake up feeling refreshed and having energy throughout the day.

October 13, 2010 at 2:05 amWhile I can’t empathise on the iron deficiency anaemia front, I can definitely empathise with not having the energy to just make it through the day.
It’s good that they know what’s causing your issues though because it means that there’s a chance they’ll come up with a way to fix it :).

I’m prone to anaemia being a herbivore since one of my staple foods was meat. I had to try and eat spinach and green stuff, but apparently, it’s very hard for the body to hold onto the iron that it gets from those foods. Sucky innit?
