About

Welcome to MandaSue.com! I’m Manda, a small business owner and lifelong blogger based in the serene Appalachian Mountains. Along with my husband, I craft natural beard care and skincare products using honey and beeswax from our hives. When I’m not busy with our business or hanging out with our cats, you’ll find me indulging in horror movies and British comedies.

A large percentage of the world calls me Amanda. A slightly smaller percentage leaves the “uh” sound off and calls me Manda (which I prefer). And thank God no one calls me Mandy. My mom was originally going to name me Lacy Lynette but the nurse handed me to her and proclaimed “Here’s your little Amanda Sue!” To which my mom refused delivery and stated “That’s not my daughter!” Seems that my dad decided to name me Amanda Sue when he first saw me without consulting my mom. He said I looked like an Amanda. That name was never brought up in their discussions of baby names.

I am clumsy, sarcastic, maybe a little more mentally unstable than I should be, and definitely stubborn. I sometimes get overly excited and will geek out when it comes to my fandoms. I also talk with my hands and can be pretty animated at times.

I am happily married to my high school sweetheart, Mike. It surprises some people when they find out that Mike and I have known each other since I was 5 and he was 6. We began dating in January 1996, and then tied the knot, took the plunge, walked down the aisle on December 8, 2001.

We have a creative, intelligent, and beautiful daughter named Raven who is an multi-media artist, and a world traveler. Visit RJ Crow Art to learn more about the artist.

Blogging Isn’t Something New For Me

My blogging career began in late 1999 when I started blogging on Dead Journal and Live Journal. I thought it was the best thing since sliced bread and blogged there for several years.

When Mike and I decided to get married, I started a wedding site on Bravenet where I would blog about the wedding planning process and provide info for our guests. After the wedding, that site morphed into our family site for a few years.

As with other bloggers during that time, I jumped on the “get your own domain and use wordpress” bandwagon and purchased my first domain (4everlasting.com) in mid 2003 and blogged on a subdomain under KickAss. Since then I have had several different domains trying to find one that fit me. I thought I had found “the one” with OffWithHerHead.org, blogging on it from 2008 until 2014, but it just didn’t feel right. So I purchased MandaSue.com in late 2013 so I could have a blog that was more personal.
