Update on the Sick Girl

Raven doesn’t truly act sick. She is still up and running around (even though we tell her numerous times that she needs to lay down on the couch and relax) and acting goofy. But she has been running a fever on and off since we brought her back from medbrook Tuesday and she sounds like she is going to cough up a lung. We are not going to send her to school tomorrow (she has been off since Tuesday). She’s a tad bit upset about that cause the school’s Halloween party is tomorrow and she is exciting about showing off her costume (she is being Kakashi from Naruto). But she said that she could either go to school for the party and take the chance of getting worse or stay home and get better. Do we have a smart kid or what!

Yey For Me

The reason I was going to the DMV Thursday was to take my written driving test for the first time. Yes, yes I am 27 and don’t have my license. The reason being is personal and if you really want to know shot me an email and I will tell you. The thing I find funny is that people gasp and give me a weird look when they find out I don’t drive. Forget the fact that I know how to wield, can cook extremely well, know how to speak more Japanese then normal Americans, know how to start a fire with a small piece of chocolate and an empty pop can (thanks to Survivor Man I now know many useless technics that I will probably never use), I am a force to be reckoned with when playing Scene It, I can put together anything as long as I have instructions to go along with it, I know what tools are what, I can change a flat tire, I take care of a 10 year old little girl, 28 year old man, german shepherd and a cat 24/7 without blinking an eye. I could sit here all day and type out all the things I can do but I just wanted to list some of things that I know of people not knowing how to do. Anywho, you can add driving to that list cause I passed my written test on the first try! So for all you jackass out there that gave me dirty looks for not having my licenses KISS MY ASS!

Really Sick Girl

We took Raven to medbrook this afternoon at about 4 pm. Usually it takes a little while to actually be called back into one of the exam rooms but not this time. Right after I signed Raven in they called us to the third chair to get all her information. This took only a few minutes and before you knew it we were sent back to wait for the nurse to call us. We had just set back down when they called for us to go to exam room three. So that’s were Raven and I headed. We waited only a few moments for the nurse to come in. She asked the normal questions like age, weight, symptoms. And then told us the doctor would be right in. And this time it wasn’t a lie. The doctor came in, looked in Raven’s ears, looked in her mouth and then listened to her heart beat. The doctor said she sounded congested so they were going to check her white blood count and get a chest x-ray. When she said that I was damn near stunned. I just thought they where going to give her some antibodies just like every other time we took her to Medbrook. After the doctor left the room I explained to Raven that to check her white blood cell count they were going to have to draw some blood with a needle. She was just a little scared but was happy that she brought along her stuffed Pikachu. The nurse comes in and draws some blood (without any problems) and then sends her down the hall to get an x-ray of her chest. Come to find out she has upper something (not respiratory, I couldn’t make out what the doctor said cause she said it while rushing out of the room to work on the next patient) pneumonia. The doctor said she needs to stay home from school at least for another day. She gave her a prescription that we got filled at Target, since it is closer to medbrook then Walmart, and the cost of the prescription was $150 but thank the good Lord the medical insurance prescription plan thingy covered it all so we didn’t have to pay anything. And since she as pneumonia, had to have her blood drawn and an x-ray she said she should get something for having to go through all that, so she picked out a Pokemon fun kit at Target that had 3 figures, temporary tattoos and tons of stickers. She was also getting hungry while we waited for the prescription to be filled (which took only about 20 minutes) and wanted some pizza so we called ahead to Fox’s Pizza and stopped there on our way home to pick it up. After we got home she changed into her sleep outfit, ate pizza and drank Sprite while watching Goosebumps on Cartoon Network. After that she watched House with me. Her fever has gone down to 100.8 and as I type this she is laying on the bed playing her DS and watching Mike play Bioshock on the Xbox 360. And through all this what she is concerned about the most is whether or not she will be able to attend the Halloween party at school this Friday.

Manic Monday

Would you be able to serve on a jury and sentence the defendant to the death penalty if he/she were found guilty of a crime that the court felt warranted the death penalty?
Yes, yes I would be able to sentence someone to the death penalty if I was on the jury and there was no reasonable doubt in my mind that they were guilty of the crime.

Have you ever faked being ill to avoid doing something you didn’t want to do?
Yes I have. I think we all have at one point or another 🙂 .

Would you state you were guilty of a crime you didn’t commit to free a loved one?
I don’t think I would but then again you really don’t know 100% how you are going to act in a situation until it arises.

Holiday Lighting

Halloween is fast approaching and soon it with be time to string up those Christmas lights and get out the tree. I enjoy decorating for the holidays. What I don’t enjoy is the cost added to the electric bill. Now don’t get me wrong, that doesn’t stop me from putting up those lights but has years go by I am always on the look out for new and improved ways to save on electricity. So when I heard about LED holiday lights I just had to know more.

LED string lights use about 90% less energy then the incandescent lights which will save you a nice chunk of change during the holiday season. They also last for more then 50,000 hours so you won’t be haunted by that one dead light that I know plagues all of us while decorating. Plus they are extremely durable (and nearly indestructible) thanks to the epoxy plastic that they are made out of.

I got to mention that the lights put off very little heat so they are safe to the touch even after being on for hours and by just using the LED Christmas lights will help to reduce the risk of accidental home fires during the holiday season.

Those reason right there are why I will be switching over to LED lights for my holiday decorating.

Saturday Six

1. If you’re all alone on a dark and stormy night when a particularly scary movie comes on, will you watch it or change the channel?
Hell yeah. I watch scary movies by myself in this big, old, dark house all the time. That’s how you’re suppose to watch them.

2. If you could remake any old horror movie, which one would you choose and why?
I wouldn’t remake any horror movie. A lot of times (there are some exceptions) remaking them ruins the original.

3. If you had the chance to spend the night in a room that you really believed was haunted by a malevolent ghost, would you?
Hell Yea!

4. Take the quiz: What is your Halloween personality?

What Your Halloween Habits Say About You

You love the drama of Halloween. You definitely like to have the best costume around – and everyone noticing you.

You definitely think of yourself as someone who has a dark side. And part of having that dark side means not showing it.

Your inner child is stubborn and a bit bossy.

You truly fear the dark side of humanity. You are a true misanthrope.

You’re prone to be quite emotional and over dramatic. Deep down, you enjoy being scared out of your mind… even if you don’t admit it.

You are a traditionalist with most aspects of your life. You like your Halloween costume to be basic, well made, and conventional enough to wear another year.

5. Who is your favorite horror writer/novelist?
No doubt in my mind, Stephen King! I have read just about ever book he has ever written under his name and also under is pseudo name Richard Bachman.

6. How many years has it been since you last went trick-or-treating?
Well, it’s been a couple of years since I have taken Raven out trick or treating cause she was going with her Aunt.

Saturday Eight

Do you have any of the following gadgets, and what kind? When did you get them?

1. cellphone?
I don’t have a cellphone, it’s the hubby’s and he got it at Sprint back in March of 2007.

2. digital camera?
Yep, it’s a Olympus E20 and I love it! I don’t go anywhere without it. It was bought for me by my husband.

3. video camera?
Yeah, we have one. I think it’s a sony. I don’t use it that much.

4. video game console?
We have an Xbox 360 and the three of us are always fighting to see who gets to play it. LOL.

5. TiVo/DVR?
Nope.

6. mp3 player/iPod?
I have a 60G video iPod that Mike got me for Christmas 2005, Raven has a MP3 player that her grandma bought her and Mike’s cellphone has a built in MP3 player.

7. laptop computer?
Nope, just the desktop computer right now but I would love to have a laptop also.

8. any widget or app on your phone or computer to makes your life easier (commute time calculator, on-time flight alert, zocdoc, etc.)?
That that I can think of at this time.

Stressing

The last couple . . . more like three . . . well . . . possibly closer to four weeks have been extremely stressed. I have all kinds of crap going on and I am trying my damnedest to not get overly frustrated. To keep what calm and cool I have and not blow up on anyone. And let me tell you it is harder then hell to keep my temper at bay. And today will be an ultimate test of my will power because I have to go to the DMV. Yep. And I have to deal with people who say things to me like “No, you can not use that to prove your residency because it’s a PO Box and you don’t live in a PO Box do you?” I should just tell them “Yes, yes I do live in a PO Box and with how I have the furniture arrange it gives it a more spacious feel”. But they pretty much have me by the balls, since they can decided to not help me and keep me waiting there until I die. What I find funny . . . possibly sad . . . is that they will not except my ID that I got from them a few years back cause it says PO Box listed as my address. They will not except any form of ID or any types of utility bills that isn’t a street address but they themselves will give out IDs with a PO Box address and then in return will not accept them as proof of residency. Just thinking about heading to the DMV is giving me a headache. Ugh.

3X Thursday

1. Are you afraid to die? Why/why not?
It’s like that country song says “I’m not afaid of dying it’s just the thought of being died.

2. Are you afraid of getting old? Why/why not? Do you have any fears about getting old? If so, what are they? If not, why not?
No, I’m not really afraid of getting old. Getting old is something that we all go through, well if you’re lucky enough to not die before, and I have accepted that fact a long time ago.

3. In general, do you feel safe? How so/how not?
I have stayed in this big ol’ house by myself on more then one occasion. Many times for the weekend alone, while watching horror movies. So, yes, I would have to say I feel safe.

Weekend

This past weekend has been a busy one. My sister in law and brother in law were in for the Harvest Fest that was going on at Trinity Church because my cool brother in law and his awesome band preformed (DecembeRadio, go check ’em out, they’re the greatest) at the Harvest Fest. Of course the concert rocked my socks. I will post a more in depth post later. Right now I am going to watch 28 Weeks Later.
